Katie and Hugh

In Crested Butte, it is understandable that people want their wedding day to be sunny and perfect. After all, we get close to 300 sunny days a year. But as photographer here, I am thrilled when it is overcast and threatening to rain. This was the case for Katie and Hugh. And they didn't seem to mind it one little bit.

It was clear from the start that Katie and Hugh knew how to have a good time. Though they both talked a little about being nervous, neither showed it outwardly at all. The ceremony was in the UCC church (no worry about the rain there), and the reception was at the Crested Butte Retreat, a fantastic and intimate venue for a reception.

When it was time for the portraits, they were clearly having a lot of fun. And it was raining. And they laughed...and kissed. Then they stopped by Donita's for a shot. And laughed some more.

The reception was beautiful- all the flowers were white and unbelievably fragrant, and orchids adorned the tables. The cakes were made by Guilty Pleasures in Gunnison and the grooms cakes had sweet skiis, hat and mittens on them.

Click here if you want to see the entire slideshow of their extremely fun day. Below is a sneak peek:

This shed is fantastic. The door coordinates with the flowers!

Note the flower girls hand behind them. She took her role VERY seriously.

Theresa and Ian

My first wedding of the summer is behind me and I can let out a deep breath. Theresa and Ian were a great pleasure to work with...they were accommodating and so organized. I guess I would expect that from two math professors!

Their wedding day turned out beautifully. It was the first real sun we'd seen in far too long, and by the time the ceremony was over at the church there was a really nice cloud cover to make the light great for portraits. The reception was held at Mountaineer Square, the ballroom was beautiful, and the food delicious. Triple L at High Mountain DJs played great music all night and guests were DANCING!

Best of luck to you in your new adventures in Texas. We will miss you here!

Fun Portraits!

Friday was the official kick off to my busy summer season and I had the pleasure of spending it with two very cute little guys (and their parents of course).

Coaxing the smiles proved a bit of a challenge, but nothing a couple of lollipops won't help fix. Mud puddles and frog boots don't hurt either.

Gearing up

So I'm gearing up for a busy season of weddings, and this is my calm before the storm. I've got four days left to relax and them I'm busy busy busy. I've no photos to post today, but soon there will be very many. Instead I'm going to give some mention to some people that have helped me along the way, that I've enjoyed working with, or that I hope to work with in the future. And I'm going to shamelessly post their links as well. And you can find most of these guys on facebook too.

First there's Tim- a phenomenally talented furniture maker, but he's also my assistant, photoshop geek extrodaniare, computer repairman, lighting technician, as well as a talented photographer, fantastic cook, superior father and have you guessed yet? My husband. Check out his work. Tell your friends. It's very cool.

I need to thank Andi Tippie also a fantastic photographer, and all around very nice person. I'm sure she's wondering why she's being thanked, but I know for sure that her tip(pie- couldn't resist the pun) about getting my new website up and running absolutely launched a new chapter in my career. Thanks a million!

I'd also like to give mention to some of the vendors that I work with on a regular basis in all of this fantastic wedding madness.

Good People. Great Product. Very Highly recommended!

Here they are:
