Katie and Hugh

In Crested Butte, it is understandable that people want their wedding day to be sunny and perfect. After all, we get close to 300 sunny days a year. But as photographer here, I am thrilled when it is overcast and threatening to rain. This was the case for Katie and Hugh. And they didn't seem to mind it one little bit.

It was clear from the start that Katie and Hugh knew how to have a good time. Though they both talked a little about being nervous, neither showed it outwardly at all. The ceremony was in the UCC church (no worry about the rain there), and the reception was at the Crested Butte Retreat, a fantastic and intimate venue for a reception.

When it was time for the portraits, they were clearly having a lot of fun. And it was raining. And they laughed...and kissed. Then they stopped by Donita's for a shot. And laughed some more.

The reception was beautiful- all the flowers were white and unbelievably fragrant, and orchids adorned the tables. The cakes were made by Guilty Pleasures in Gunnison and the grooms cakes had sweet skiis, hat and mittens on them.

Click here if you want to see the entire slideshow of their extremely fun day. Below is a sneak peek:

This shed is fantastic. The door coordinates with the flowers!

Note the flower girls hand behind them. She took her role VERY seriously.
